NELL ( 넬) is a band I can't really love utterly.
Maybe because sometimes they sound repetitive....
Maybe because sometimes they are just "too typical"...
But everytime I'm thinking this...
I kinda 'trip' with something amazing....

Nell is a band which actually gives you brilliant songs,
but I can't assure you won't get stuck on just a couple of melodies.

Their sound goes and comes inside some alternative rock,
pop-rock, some jazzy moments and even funky sounds once in a while.

Personally, I really like Nell.
I am not a Korean-native speaker, but I've read translated lyrics
And 김종완 [Kim Jong-wan (vocalist, lyricist)] does know how to write certainly.
And also he has this kinda of soft high pitch voice
that makes you either love him or hate him.
The band also integrates 이재경 (Lee Jae-kyung) on the guitar,
이정훈 (Lee Jung-hoon) on the bass and 정재원 (Jung Jae-won)

It is a pity that Jongwan entered the army last August
to serve the obligatory militar service any Korean male has to serve.
We will have to wait at least two years to get a new album

The Beatles Day

Well, actually, John Lennon's day.....

Number NINE was a very imprtant number for John Lennon...
He wrote the songs One After 909, Revolution 9 and #9 Dream because of this...
The reasons?

1. John Lennon and his son Sean were born on a 9th day (October 1940 and October 1975 respectively)
2. John Lennon's mom, Julia, lived in a number 9 house in Liverpool.
3. Brian Epstein (1st manager of The Beatles) listened to them on a 9th day for the first time.
4. The Beatles signed their first contract on a 9th day.
5. John Lennon met Yoko Ono on a 9th day.

Then, September 9th, 2009 - 09.09.09 - appeared to be The Beatles Day

Today, at 9am, the discography of tThe Beatles was re-released
The enginners of Abbey Road worked for years (four I think) on the albums...
The sound is supposed to be the most similar sound
to the original recordings which has been ever been released before...

The albums are being sold individually and there's a collector's box presentation.

I started listening to Yoshihiro Ike coz of the series Nobuta wo Produce.

Nobuta wo Produce not only had a great screenplay and some catchy cinematography,
But also accurate direction and marvelous background music...
The latter being essential for the mood when watching the different scenes.

After having listened to that OST I became addicted to Yoshihiro's music.
He took me back to my love for BGM...
-at about 15, I was a big fan of James Newton Howard, I remember...

There are only a few series I've seen which have Yoshihiro's music.
For instance, I haven't seen Karas, but I love the OST.

Of course, there are many people who listen to OSTs
because they love the series where they listened to that music.

For me, I tend to watch series, coz Yoshihiro made the music....
I just love his compositions so much...

Fear, jazz, percussion, sadness, classics, piano, nostalgic, rock, saxophone, happiness, etc, etcetera, etc...

So, I uploaded this album for someone, and decided to put it here.

Damien Rice's Live From The Union Chapel
"was a promotional release of only two hundred thousand copies
by a book club in the USA. They distributed the cd amongst its members",
as I was told by email by someone from Damien's official site
when I asked about a copy to purchase.

This is a very representative album in terms of what Damien seems to like:
Simplicity.

It contains songs which at the time were very well-known,
Such as Delicate and The Blower's Daughter.

And some usual 'b-sides'
Such as Then Go and Baby Sister,
which are my fave tracks from this album.

Nina Simone's Be My Husband,
Sung by Lisa Hannigan is also a nice track to listen.
(Although I still prefer Jeff Buckley's cover xD)

As you may know, Lisa left Damien as a supporter
In 2006, if I remember correctly, or maybe 2007?
I don't really remember, but this album has a version of
Silent Night with Lisa's lyrics.

Although I don't like her solo album,
I think that song is quite enjoyable to listen.

Radiohead in Chile ♪

Were there sound probs? Yes.
Did they make mistakes? Yes.

I think I can be objective and I actually remember things I could point.
Although all in all... The lives were excellent!! Breath-taking!!!

I've never been good at reviewing.
"Knowledge" in music is a different thing than "Feeling" in it...
And I can feel it but I dont really know about music.
So I just write what I feel...
And what I think with the little I know about music.

Also, I don't think 'Im always right', actually, I tend to think I'm wrong...

So this time, I decided I won't write about Radiohead...
At least, not like I wrote about Monoral or Damien Rice.

Why? Well, first...
Coz what I felt- and still feel- is certainly too big to be expressed in words.
And second,
Coz lately I got really tired of the "Radiohead are gods" thing.

Really. I'm fed up.

Radiohead are my favorite band.
I love their music. I loved it, I love it and I will ever love their music, most likely.

But it's not like I can't put ears to their music... And actually listen!!

After the second Radiohead live here in Chile,
When I tried to give an opinion on a song, a friend said: "It's Radiohead, who cares?"

I really felt like becoming a murderer right there.

More because of his "I'm always right" voice intonation than what he said, but...

Isn't it actually important? Music in itself... I mean... It must be, ne?

I mean, I mainly talk about music in terms of 'connection'.
But you can't just not pay attention to everything...
Because... Would it be true love if you don't?.... I dunno. I'm confused.

You might say he -like probably most people there- was in 'such an ecstasis' to think and blah blah

Then... Am I the one who separates feelings and thoughts too much? Maybe.

I waited for Radiohead for years and they are the hell important for me.

I have a stupidly large amount of memories attached to Radiohead.
I started listening to them when I was 13 and I almost don't have memories before I was that age.
So I've been listening to them 'my whole life' you may say.

In fact, my eyes were holding tears in like half of the songs during the first live...

I was just too overwhelmed.

But seriously... All people in the lives... All people I've talked about those later...
All fans seem to think Radiohead are gods...
And that wouldn't be something I don't like
If they in fact gave me reasons for thinking that...
But they all go "Just because"... And THAT'S something I really dislike.

Well... Going on through this is just like going on in circles though...
Because, it's not like I would have cared -probably-
if I had found at least ONE person to talk about the lives...

I felt lonely ....
Because Radiohead lives were finished and, also,
Because most people seem to not care about music,
But only the fact that they were "Radiohead"...

Anyways.... I did understand them I think...

Maybe I just -selfishly- wanted someone to understand me....

And love the music... Right there, right then...

Not just a name.

Damien Rice in Chile: Music is the voice of soul... And other parts of the body...

Damien told us this story...

Of being given a million Chilean pesos when you're 13...
And then being given a million Chilean pesos everyday for a year...
So when you're 14 you have 365 million Chilean pesos...
And then, they tell you 'Behave yourself, don't do anything bad with those pesos'

"But you have a penis... You've got a million of sperms...
And the next day, you've got another million of sperms...
And another million of sperms... Is it possible to carry 365 millions of sperms?
And they tell you to behave yourself... 'Spend your sperm wisely'..."

And he started singing The Professor...
Which is the first song from Damien I ever heard, I guess... I love that song...
When he started the story, I knew he would go for this song.
Impossible not to know with those lyrics........

The song went fluent and easy on his voice...
His French at the last two verses is always really English,
But it still sounds cool for the song and its meaning...

The first two songs were Insane, which I honestly didn't recognise
And Older Chests... Which I totally loved when I listened to it live...

Damien Rice does not do the kind of music you love for its complexity.
He is not a 'magicien' of guitar, going all speedy and showy...

He is just this almost skinny guy with messy hair and his acoustic guitar on stage...
Literally.

No Tomo or Shane or Vivienne in this "South American Tour"
And I use the quoting marks coz he was actually visiting a friend in Brazil
"And I decided to make some lives since I was here...."

*sigh* He's always like that..... I like it that way.....

I like people just enjoying doing music...
Although I'm not certainly used to someone deciding on stage which song to sing next...

The live of Damien Rice in Chile last January 28th was full of these silent moments...
Damien watching the ceiling or eyes closed...
Humming... Obviously thinking about what to sing next...

And the live was also full of funny stories...
(He's quite a good actor, I must say)

The second story was about a couple...
Making it REALLY short,
It's a girl in a country, the guy in another...
The guy goes to a party and sees this girl who also came alone........................
A story about this almost magical instance for you to cheat on your girl (or guy)...

"You don't.... But you want to!!
But you don't... But you fucking want to!!"

This was the introduction for 9 Crimes
The guitar version was as good as the piano version for me...
But I must admit the piano gives the song a feeling that guitar can't express in this case: Melancholy.

Damien mostly sounds angry when he is singing with his guitar, I'd say...
But I can't avoid falling for that...
"A guy bleeding his life out through his guitar"
The sentence my cousin Alonso used that Wednesday, before the live.....

Folk?? I dunno, I so don't care... I really don't care about styles...
If I like this guy's style, I won't necessarily go for all the other guys who sing like that...
We were just talking about music........

Damien's voice is amazingly strong and touching at the same time...
I wasn't really excited about the live the days before,
because Damien's music isn't something which will surprise me...
But it certainly gives me what I want from it: feeling.

The next songs were Skimo, Elephant, Amie, Coconut Skin and Volcano...

In Coconut Skin, Damien was already freaking out about people having cameras
((I had my fangirl moment in some other band's live in Valparaíso and stopped there...
I don't think I will ever use a camera again.... -a thought not a promise though lol))

The thing is I felt really bad when he stopped the song to ask people to let him sing
"One song, just one song... Let us all be here tonight and forget about the outside world for at least one song"

In Volcano he decided to take people on the stage:
"all those who DON'T have a camera, come on stage"

I didn't have a camera, but I sat in front of him instead going on stage......
I was already in first row, so I just moved in front of him.....
Boring fan I am -lol

The stage was full of people -who looked the hell happy by the way ^w^
And this Irish drunk guy with a guitar separated them in groups and made them sing...

Amazing thing!! It sounded cool....

The next song was I Remember...
Great song. Great performance.
Except for the choice of a chord which didn't sound right for the impromptu he did in the outro...
But just a detail...... His voice was overwhelming.....

Someone said something about Lisa...
It sounded like "Better with Lisa" instead "Better THAN with Lisa"
Which is the sentence I think the guy wanted to say...
Anyway.... That was out of topic... So unnecessary...

Another story to introduce Rootless Tree...
A story about how someone who loves you stay silent about your mistakes,
But then suddenly they get sick of you and give all that shit back to you......

I always enjoy Rootless Tree's live performances...
Dunno why... It doesn't matter how he plays the song...
The only bad thing is when he doesn't say FUCK YOU and goes all censored for tv.......

Next, Damien asked for amplification to be turned off....
He unplugged his guitar and came to the very front of the stage...
And he sang The Blower's Daughter...
And the 'only his voice and his guitar' became absolutely literal...

Probably the most magical moment of the night....
I felt really closed to him when I listened to him that way...
His voice was astonishing....... He finished the song.... He left.....

And came back for the encore...

I'm not really into Cannonball, but when he sang Accidental Babies right after
I almost died!!!!!!!! ..... I love that song!!... It is so boring and crude....
And then Delicate.... Just on time to finish with the great Cheers Darlin'

He had two red wine bottles with him
And drank them with a guy and a girl from the audience in stage...

"I dunno what Im doin'", "I'm really drunk!", "Does somebody remember the lyrics?"

Damien's Cheers Darlin' was amazing and amusing... Perfect!!

The track was on his Ipod and he was drinking and smoking...
And the wonderful "BITCH" he shouted at the girl was hilarious...

I had seen him doing that before in vids, but I wouldn't say it was fake...
I'd say he really likes getting drunk and doing the song like that...
Maybe I'm wrong..... Who knows..... I don't know.......

I just know I seriously enjoyed that live............

Although it was like having a stupidly cool shot of music...
And then the effects of the dosis went too fast................

Odd thing.......

I think I couldn't write about it before because of that:

I was drugged with Damien's music

Today, it's been 11 years since I bought the first official Hanson album: Middle of Nowhere.

I didn't even know who they were and I hadn't seen them on tv yet ((such a loner always xD)),
So I wasn't sure whether the voice I was listening to was male's or female's xD

Anyway, I liked them. Their music has always been something special for me.
I always had good reasons to like their music, so I never stopped liking them
Or denying them like "No, I was so childish and immature... they are my past" xD

When I listened to them... I listened to their music.
I didn't like the fashionable kids nor the kids themselves, but their sound...
The special Hanson Sound which just a fan will know what it is like -
R&B and Pop and Rock and Gospel and Funk
All mixed with the simple pleasure of doing music
-That would be like if I were able to describe it oO.

Of course, nobody could believe I was a RADIOHEAD AND HANSON FAN xD

So different music and yet the same reason for my love:

The capacity of renewing themselves - reinvent music - not got stuck

I love music... Hanson are somehow responsible for it...

Music saves my life... So today... I celebrate this special date:

August 13th 1997 - The day I started being completely addicted to music...

Ikuta closed his notebook and Yamashita looked for the person in charge. Ikuta seemed really amused when seeing Yamashita looking at the old magazines that the stuff from Seventeen brought to the set.

The outdoor shooting was settled some other day, so the interview and shooting for that day didn't take long.

“Otsukare. Arigato gozaidmashita”

The staff left the two guys alone at a car in which they drove off the place.

“I haven't thought of these eleven years in days... When the reporter said more than 4 thousand days he gave me the chills” Ikuta was laughing. “Four thousand days is way too many days...”

“I bet you never thought you could stay by someone's side for so long...”

Ikuta looked at Yamashita. When the younger smiled, the older just smiled back. Yes. Yamashita was right. Not that Ikuta was the type to have many and long-term relationships. Yamashita understands him always, and this time was the same: He noticed Ikuta was a bit ashamed, so he changed the subject.

“What was your entry about today? A song about your muscles aching again?”

“So you're still making fun of me, ne?”

“I just didn't get it at all. I thought of you being happy when reading that though”

Yamashita felt jealous all of a sudden. He looked at Ikuta, who had Nakatsu's look because of the filming of the Hanazakari no Kimitachi e special. Everytime he saw him looking as Nakatsu, he couldn't help remembering the scene where Ikuta had to kiss Shun, where Ikuta had to confess to Maki, where Ikuta had to bathe with the dormitory guys, etc. Yamashita certainly disliked all that. Hated it.

“HanaKimi is tiring...” said Ikuta, rubbing his back.

“You enjoy it a lot though” Yamashita's voice was a little lower than usual.

“Yeah,...” Ikuta didn't notice the slightly jealous tone in Yamashita, “everybody is always in high spirits. I laugh a lot, I play a lot. The guys are just too amazing. I really have fun with Shuntachi...”

“Shun... Soka...” Yamashita wasn't looking at Ikuta.

“Well, yeah...” Ikuta noticed some kind of not-completely-right feeling in the air this time, “Shun, Kyo, Yuma, everybody are just fun...”

“Maki too, I guess...”

The time got stuck. A few seconds turn easily into endless years when you don't really have a good excuse for a bad guilty feeling.

“Yeah, I mean...” Ikuta started feeling nervous “She's just like another guy there. It doesn't really matter whether she's a girl or not”

“Maki isn't really the princess type...” Yamashita looked down while stopping at a red light. Ikuta was a bit nervous “I understand how you guys can think of her as one more guy... And you, Toma, you seem at ease everytime you're with her, ne?” Yamashita had still his eyes looking down. Ikuta was definitely nervous now. He took a townguide which was lying on the floor.

“I'm at ease with her because she isn't as delicate as other girls, so I don't need to worry when she's around. She is just another mate... Now, stop the interrogatory and let's decide where we're going to eat...”

“Yeah...” Yamashita smiled ironically, “Just another mate... That's why you like her, ne?”

Ikuta froze. At first, he didn't know whether to get angry because of the obvious attempt of saying you-like-her-coz-you-see-her-as-a-guy or to get off the car and run away, so he kept looking at the guide, trying to feel something –anything!- clearly, but Yamashita talked first.

“And the guide is upside down, Toma... Just for yo to know...”

The car started riding again. The two guys inside were deadly silent. Ikuta was still lost in his thoughts. What was all that about? Since when this brat talks to me this way? Why am I feeling guilty? The image of Maki smiling came to his mind. Maki was always smiling when she was with him. They are good friends, so... Why?

“I know... I've always known... I just needed... To look into your eyes... As a girl...”

“Maki...” Ikuta didn't notice he said that loudly.

Yamashita accelerated. Ikuta looked at him, but he was too tired to say anything... So tired... He got asleep.

Ikuta woke up. It was night already, but the moon was brighting so much that you could see clearly. Yamashita was smoking, sitting on the sand, his eyes lost in the endless vision of the sea. How perfect a reflection of your love can be? Yamashita was the clear answer to Ikuta's first thought when he saw him.

“How did I get here?”

“I carried you”

“Why didn't you woke me up?”

“What for? You look better sleeping: quiet and weak.”

“Weak?”

“You look weak when you're sleeping. It's always been that way. I certainly like you more when you're sleeping... I think... I feel I can do something for you...”

The ash fell on the sand. Ikuta couldn't help but wondering what was all that about. Yamashita and he had always been best friends, but this was the first time Yamashita was talking to him as if he felt... Something... Else?

“You do a lot for me...” Ikuta sat straight and pat his friend on the back, “who else on earth would stand all my drastic viewpoints?”

“Maki, Shun, Jun, everybody!! Everyone loves you... You are just too lovely”

“Why do you sound mad when saying something good” Ikuta laughed.

“I'm angry because you're further and further away from me everytime, that's why!!!”

Ikuta was speechless.

“I tried not to care more than I was supposed to, I swear. I'm his best friend. Friends take care of friends, they don't own them, but somehow... Somehow... I know we are always together, and I'm your best friend, I know... I know, dammit... But somehow... It is not enough anymore...”

Ikuta's heart was about to explode.

“I'm sorry, Toma. Maybe I am too selfish to tell you this, but... it's been months since I started thinking about it... Since HanaKimi... I managed to calm myself, but today... All those memories... You, as Nakatsu, argh! Shit, I hate it, really, I hat-...”

Ikuta held Yamashita so tight that Yamashita coud hardly breathe. Eyes closed, Yamashita just answered the hug. His hands were lost somewhere at Ikuta's back. Ikuta himself saw Maki again when he closed his eyes...

“I know... I've always known... I just needed... To look into your eyes... As a girl... Before admitting I lost you to Yamashita since I wasn't even born... You've been meant to each other since the beginning of times, ne?”

Makis smile was frightenig when she was crying, but it was still beautiful.

“Sorry...” Ikuta separated from Yamashita a bit and took his head with his hands, “I'm sorry... I didn't notice... what you felt... What... I felt...”

Yamashita smiled and they kissed in a long warm kiss. The wind stop blowing, the sea stop singing its waves, the moon seemed brighter... And they just kissed... Endlessly... Until Yamashita's hands couldn't stand the attempt of challenging Ikuta's clothes, so they moved inside to feel Ikuta's skin, which was so soft... Softer than anyone else's... And his hair... To slide your fingers through Ikuta's hair was just addictive... And his tongue... His long and wise tongue... Playing furiously with his own... Yamashita couldn't help moaning... Ikuta smiled... The older boy was taking the upper clothes off... Gosh, it had been so long since Ikuta saw this body naked... He hadn't had the chance to touch that perfect chest ever! Even innocent games seemed difficult to lead to a touching game when they were younger... But it was ok... It was worth... The wait was worth... It doesn't matter now...

“I just love you so much...” Ikuta talked loudly without noticing again.

Yamashita looked at him, surprised. It was the first time Ikuta showed his feeling so openly.

“I love you too... And I always will... Even when we get married and have children... Even when nobody remembers us as Johnnys... Even when I'm dying... I will still and surely love you... Ever...”

When the morning came, the sun found two young men hugging on the beach...

“This was our first time coming to the beach...”

“That was too dovey-dovey, dont you think?” Ikuta laughed at him again, but yamashita didn't care anymore...

“Blah... I'm just happy...”

“Soka...” Ikuta smiled...

“Maki told me to take care of you...” Yamashita slid the phrase... Carefully...

“Eh?”

“I'll always be by his side, he's my best friend, I told her. She just smiled and continue smiling for the photographers. We were at some Kurosagi promo. She had to smile. She is a good actress, isn't she? Thank God she is... She fell in love with yo-“

“I know... She told me... At that time... She said something which got me sick... Because I felt to embarrased to admit she was right...”

“Soka... So she did it...”

“Eh?”

“She told me about it... She knew... I felt...”

“She is frighteningly smart...” Ikuta laughed.

“I think I should give her a good birthday present”

“I wouldn't mind...”

Ikuta smiled and Yamashita just got him down.

“I will punish you just for thinking about it!”

“Dozo...”

And the two young men... Stayed at the beach... For other 34 hours...

When I was young -about 10 years old-, I used to tell to my parents "I wanna be a photographer".

I also used to tell them I wanted to be a cashier in a supermarket though xD And also...:

Anjin: I want an aligator ^w^

When I had to decide what to study at university,
I was going to pic something related to photography, but...
At the end, I decided for translation xD

I love languages, but I also made up my mind based on the fact that I had to study in college,
not an institute, because of the money. I still wonder sometimes...
What if the scholarship which paid my studies had been given to me BEFORE applying to uni o.o?

Perhaps, I would have pick another thing ^^U --- Who knows ^^

A few weeks ago, I bought a camera. Not a digital one, but a classic Vivitar.

Honestly, I wanted a Canon or Nikon, but money isn't something I have now xD

The model is V3000n. It has a 28-70mm lens, and just a few days ago I bought a flash ^^

I spent less than US$60 in everything!!! So cheap *O*

Nevertheless, to have a classical camera is quite expensive in itself...
You can't just connect the camera to the computer and get the pics.

I developed some pics and scanned them. I wanna share them with you.
They aren't really good. Actually, some of them are quite boring xD
And I'm not saying these to be fakely humble, but coz it's true xD
But... I'd really like to have feedback, like "Try this" or "this one is good",
Or "That one is bad, but maybe if you do this or that".... So... Yoroshiku ^^

Cuando se transmitió este programa. Obviamente, la entrevista a Toma se grabó unos días antes.

Toma: Permiso...

Toma mira y se ríe. Se escucha la risa del reportero tb.

Toma: Hola. (Mira la cámara y se ríe *O*)

Niños pequeños, niños y niñas. Y ya que me hace feliz, cuando me saludan, les hago señas con la mano diciendo:
"Hola. Haré mi mejor esfuerzo!". Me hace sentir bien y me da seguridad en mi mismo.

Rep: Qué opinas de tu personalidad?

Toma: Inestable y... (Piensa) temperamental. Si algo no me gusta, me enfado fácilmente.

Rep: Ahora, estás bien?

Toma: (Risas) Sí, estoy bien ahora. Muy bien. Siento haberlos hecho esperar.

Rep: No parece que tuvieras 22 años...

Toma: Siempre me han dicho lo mismo. Y es molesto, realmente no me gusta...

Cuando termina esta primera parte, la gente del estudio que veía el video empieza

Conductor: Parece un adulto, da respuestas muy calmadas. Pero cuando sonríe se ve más joven.
Invitada1: Pero si hubiera dicho que tenía 28, yo le habría creido.
Conductor: Es difícil adivinar su edad.
Invitado1: Cuando entra a algún lugar, puedes sentir su presencia, eso me hizo pensar.
Conductor: puede hablar en un tono maduro, pero su sonrisa es kawai

Dicen "puntos atractivos", pero Toma habla de cosas que no le gustan, así que... No sé... Lo siento

parezco un panda (Yo quiero ese panda *O*) Creo que es un punto débil, una imperfección.

Rep: Qué parte de tu cuerpo te preocupa?
(Esto no me parece una buena traducción, pero no se me ocurrió nada mejor y eso dice literalmente xD)

Toma: Mis venas son muy obvias, (muestra el brazo) especialmente las de mis brazos.
A veces, hasta a mí me da asco (risas)

Rep: Qué parte es la que menos te gusta?

Toma: (Todavía estaba mostrando el brazo, indica una picadura) Lo que no me gusta?
Lo que no me gusta... Es que acá tengo una picadura de mosquito y eso de verdad no me gusta (risas),
pero es más fácil ponerse inyecciones (risas)

Mis labios se secan fácilmente (acercamiento a sus labios *O*)
Los maquillistas siempre me dan bálsamo de labios.
